In today’s Guardian I spotted a particularly nasty piece from the US on the subject of Covid 19 management:-
The Republican governor of Alabama has said it is “time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks” for rising cases of Covid-19, amid concern that months of misinformation over the need and efficacy of vaccines is fuelling a resurgence of coronavirus infections in several states.
Kay Ivey said that vaccines are “the greatest weapon we have to fight Covid” and added that a surge in new cases of the coronavirus in Alabama is due to a reluctance among many people in the state to get inoculated.
To say I was angry is an understatement. The very idea that we elect people like Ivey is a sad indictment of the times we live in, and the power of the media to convince us that Black is White.
To answer some of the Conspiracy Theorist accusations headed my way on social media I thought it high time that my position was made crystal clear.
Here it is, as succinctly as I can manage, and largely cribbed from someone more qualified than I am on the subject. I already know that he wont be suing me. I am not going to use his name, you might already know who it is I am talking about, but it is largely irrelevant to our position in the Here and Now.
- Bioethics require full risk disclosure and free choice. They also badly need review and overhauling.
- For high-risk populations, the risk/benefit ratio for the USA vaccines seems to make sense, but we do not know all the risks yet. When we do, our position may change along with the science.
- The risk to children and young adult populations is globally the lowest, right across the age ranges and the data do not currently show an adequate risk/benefit for vaccines. Inoculations of children and young adult should stop immediately.
- Making vaccination compulsory or applying coercion in any way shape or form is completely wrong.
- There is evidence that there are issues with people who have had vaccinations, and significant numbers have died. No fully correlated data exists at this time to show precise numbers here and no proper clinical studies have been made or have passed scrutiny. Everybody has a right to access these data and make their own decisions according to their circumstances. NOBODY has the right to demand that another person must be vaccinated with a preparation that has a tangible possibility of killing them.
- All forms of censorship are wrong.
- Attacking another person’s credibility in an effort to win arguments is the refuge of the stupid, or of those with an axe to grind.
- There is a concerted effort to suppress information and dissent in support of the“Noble Lie”, claiming that:-
i We must reach herd immunity for economic recovery and to minimize death and disability
ii These genetic vaccines are the only path available to group immunity
iii These genetic vaccines are perfectly safe
Each of these 3 statements are demonstrably false and anyone arguing them must prove what they say beyond any reasonable doubt or desist altogether.
These are the keystones to my position.
All manner of accusations have been flying round the world about whether the virus is man-made or not, or Chinese involvement etc but our position rests on a basic assumption.
The people running the planet at this time really do not care about the people of the earth and the ecosystems that give us all life. They care only for themselves and their money supply.
I see no way you can refute this claim, the evidence is there right in front of us. War, Hunger, Pestilence and a severely damaged Global climate are all things that can be easily fixed but our so-called leaders choose this time to make money instead of fixing the problems.
Neither the Virus issue, or the Climate issue have had any really cogent inputs from our “Leaders” for a very long time, in fact many seem to have gone into hiding. People that already had access to more wealth than they could use in a million years multiplied that wealth consistently throughout the Pandemic and the Climate debate.
Our so-called World Leaders are not fit for purpose and we need to dump them all very quickly if we are to survive
So, just to be clear. Big business, which essentially wants the pandemic to disappear, is paying all the agencies collating statistics to produce evidence that the vaccines are safe? That being the case why not just refuse to reveal any death statistics? I realise that the statistics are inconvenient for an argument that the vaccines are “tangibly” killing people, but the fact is all medicines and all medical procedures carry a risk. However, the way in which the agencies are funded is a completely different argument. Are you also saying that the efficacy of all medicines is false and therefore… Read more »
I think Tony is pointing out that the reputable agencies you mention (European Medical Agency, CDC, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation), are not reputable at all and are guided by politicians and lobbyists who are steeped in corporate funding and conflicts of interest. According to Transparency International UK, there are currently 73 UK government contracts related to covid (amounting to €4bn) which contain a red flag, all of which require “detailed audits by relevant authorities”. Public Health England is basically a money spinner for past and present Tory politicians, which is why, according to the British Medical… Read more »
I agree with Dave Middleton’s points.
To an extent, I understand how you might react to a person in a position of authority blaming one group – particularly the group which has arguably been most affected by lockdowns etc while being far less vulnerable to the virus – for something which is not their fault. But this response goes beyond that.
I’m not quite sure exactly what the position here is. The risks you cite are only risks of death not of infection.or, more importantly, of long Covid. Whether the vaccines work is another issue, but there is no doubt that without them we are left with either masks and distancing or taking your chances. The problem with the position you appear to be advocating is that it fits nicely into a ‘leave it to the individual to decide’, which of course is the libertarian response. But sometimes, quite a lot of the time, individuals do not know what is best… Read more »
