This Cunt of the Month award isn’t actually going to a cunt, but to the beautiful comedic genius Sean Lock. He’s receiving our prestigious award for two reasons… firstly because we think he would have approved and secondly, for actually being a cunt and for leaving us way too soon. To think that there won’t be any new material to see or hear from this grumpy old fucker is an absolute tragedy. Selfish bastard.
British comedian Sean Lock sadly died of cancer at age 58 last night — and tributes to the icon are pouring in thick and fast.
Lock was best known for his dry humour that was showcased best on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, where he regularly captained a team. The comedian also appeared on similar comedy programs like Big Fat Quiz, QI and Have I Got News For You.
A perfect example of Lock’s perfect deadpan comedy was seen during the 8 Out Of 10 Cats episode where he shared what he’d like his obituary to say once he died.

Lock’s death was confirmed by his agent, who shared the news while speaking of the comedian’s power as one of “Britain’s finest comedians”.
“Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit, and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy,” the statement read. “Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children.”
Everyone Loves Sean Lock
As expected, tributes to the beloved comedian started to pour in from co-stars and industry friends almost immediately.
8 Out Of 10 Cats host Jimmy Carr, rival captain Jon Richardson, and former-QI host Stephen Fry all shared how devastated they were to lose not only one of Britain’s greatest comedians, but also such a dear friend.
“I loved him. I’m watching clips of him right now — laughing and crying. I’ll miss him so much,” Carr tweeted.
“I idolised Sean as a comic long before I became a comedian myself and ten years working alongside him didn’t diminish that in the least,” said Richardson. “An incredible comic brain and a truly unique voice. I’m devastated for his family today and sad for comedy that we have lost one of the very best.”
“Undisputed, undefeated, carrot in a box champion. I will miss him.”
“I think it safe to say that the best episodes of QI that I was involved with were always the ones where Sean Lock was a guest,” added Fry. “Such complete brilliance in every comic direction. What a loss. My heart goes out to his family.”

Oh no, what horrible news… I think it safe to say that the best episodes of QI that I was involved with were always the ones where Sean Lock was a guest. Such complete brilliance in every comic direction. What a loss. My heart goes out to his family.

Even Piers Morgan, a man who was constantly the butt of Lock’s jokes on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, paid tribute to the comedian by sharing a self-effacing joke that was made about him on Adam Hill’s The Last Leg.
“‘If I could have my ashes spread anywhere I wanted, I’d have them spread in Piers Morgan’s eyes’,” Morgan tweeted along with a photo of Lock. “RIP Sean Lock.”
But beyond celebrities sharing their cherished memories of Lock, people around the world have also paid tribute to the comedian, and all the joy he brought to the world, by sharing their favourite Sean Lock moments — of which, as expected, there were many.
Sean Lock was once asked on 8 Out Of 10 Cats how he’d define himself…his response was predictably hilarious.

Sean Lock gently roasting Jedward has lived rent free in my mind for a decade. If you haven't seen it before, you're in for a treat. What a legend. pic.twitter.com/P4zCW6nUPe

But, of course, no Lock moment is better than Carrot in the Box — a clip that should be watched in its entirety to fully grasp the comedic genius that was Sean Lock.
Rest in peace to Sean Lock, truly one of the greats of comedy.
FWIW: A genuine Cunt of the Month can be found here… (but we don’t recommend it. An article on Bill Gates being a cunt will for sure put a downer on your Sean Lock comedy buzz).
